Theory part and theory on the machine
We start with an introduction to asphalt technology. Our focus here is on the basics of asphalt construction, the different types of asphalt and their areas of application, as well as the properties and compositions of asphalt. We then focus on the technological aspects with an emphasis on the production of asphalt mixes, transport and storage as well as temperature management. Our third focal point is quality assurance and standards. Here we look at standards and guidelines, such as DIN and EN, test methods and their significance, as well as reporting and documentation. We then look at environmental and safety aspects, with a particular focus on environmental regulations and recycling, occupational health and safety measures and the handling of hazardous substances.
We continue with an introduction to machine technology, focussing in particular on an overview of the different machine types and their structure and mode of operation. We then move on to settings and calibration. In particular, we will look at the machine settings for different applications and the calibration procedures and their importance.
We then look at the maintenance and care of the machines, focussing on regular maintenance work and extending the service life of the machines and the corresponding care.
Safety instructions – here we focus on the safe operation of the machines, emergency procedures and first aid as well as personal protective equipment (PPE).
Practical application on the construction site
Starting with the preparations that need to be made on the construction site, such as analysing and assessing the planning of work processes and the professional set-up of the construction site.
We continue with the condition of the machines, where we demonstrate practical exercises on asphalt pavers and rollers. We also discuss calibrations and setting exercises to familiarise ourselves with operation under real conditions.
We then move on to practical quality assurance, where we consider the implementation and testing on site, as well as the documentation of the results and immediate measures in the event of quality deviations.
Paving and compaction – Here we focus on practical demonstrations and the correct compaction techniques for paving different types of asphalt and avoiding typical paving errors. We then move on to the final work and look at the final inspection and acceptance of the work, reworking and repairs as well as documentation and reporting.
