Theory part and theory on the machine
We begin with the introduction to asphalt technology. Here, our focus is on the fundamentals of asphalt construction, the different types of asphalt and their areas of application, as well as the properties and compositions of asphalt. We then shift our focus to the technological aspects, particularly the production of asphalt mix, transport and storage, and temperature management. Our third main focus is quality assurance and standards. This includes standards and guidelines such as DIN and EN, testing methods and their significance, as well as reporting and documentation. After that, we turn to the environmental and safety aspects, with special attention to environmental regulations and recycling, occupational safety measures, and the handling of hazardous materials.
We then continue with an introduction to machine technology, placing particular focus on an overview of the different machine types, their structure, and how they work. We then move on to settings and calibration, especially machine settings for different applications and the importance of calibration procedures.
After that, we focus on the maintenance and care of machines, emphasizing regular maintenance tasks, extending the machines’ service life, and proper care.
Safety instructions – here, we focus on the safe operation of machines, emergency procedures and first aid, as well as the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Practical application on the construction site
We start with the preparations that need to be carried out on the construction site, such as the analysis and assessment during the planning of workflows and the proper setup of the site. We then move on to the operation of machinery, where we demonstrate practical exercises using asphalt pavers and rollers. We also cover calibration and adjustment exercises to help participants understand how to operate the machines under real conditions.
Next, we focus on practical quality assurance, taking into account on-site implementation and testing, as well as the documentation of results and immediate actions in the event of quality deviations.
Paving and compaction – Here, we focus on hands-on demonstrations and proper compaction techniques when laying different types of asphalt, as well as avoiding common installation errors. We then move on to the final work, covering final inspection and acceptance of the work, follow-up work and repairs, as well as documentation and reporting.
