The foundation of modern building expertise

How do you recruit young talent in the construction industry? Robin Strohäker introduces us to his innovative ideas and reveals what else he has planned with SuperSiteSkills.

Breaking new ground in education and training

There is a shortage of young talent in the construction industry. Fewer and fewer young people are opting for training in the skilled trades. At the same time, the demands placed on skilled trades are changing dramatically. While more and more manual tasks are being taken over by machines, the focus is shifting to monitoring and organisational tasks. Robin Strohäker, founder of SuperSiteSkills, explained to us in the podcast how these challenges can be solved using digitalisation.

The expert interview on the future of the construction industry

All companies in the construction industry are plagued by recruitment worries. But how do you reach young people and get them interested in construction? And how do you ensure that established employees are always up to date professionally? Robin Strohäker presents his idea on how to achieve both with the help of digitalisation.

Ensuring the quality of training in the construction industry

Of course, an apprentice learns the most on a construction site. But everyday life is often hectic there. The construction site has to keep running and all the work has to be completed on time. On complex construction sites in particular, there is often not enough time to explain everything to the trainees in peace and quiet. With this in mind, Robin Strohäker has created SuperSiteSKills, a place where the knowledge of renowned construction experts is collected and can be accessed at any time. This allows trainees to acquire missing knowledge whenever they want and deepen their skills.

Picking up young people where they are

Young people have grown up in the digital world. That’s why Robin Strohäker wants to meet them there. He wants to convey the enthusiasm and passion he feels for road construction to young people digitally. He is convinced that this is the only way to secure the next generation of skilled workers in the long term.

Training and development at your own pace

However, SuperSiteSkills is not only used to optimise training in the construction industry. Experienced employees can also expand and deepen their knowledge – anywhere and at any time. That was important to Robin Strohäker. In contrast to on-site training, digitalisation offers the opportunity for everyone to learn at their own pace. Instead of having to follow a lecturer’s explanations all day, users can pause the training course at any time or watch it again at a later date. This means that any specialised knowledge required can be called up at any time.

Making specialised knowledge permanently available

Who remembers everything they learnt in a training course a year ago? Specialised knowledge in particular, which is rarely required, is quickly forgotten. This is precisely why all online training courses at SuperSiteSkills will be available on demand. This means that the necessary specialised knowledge is always available, regardless of whether an expert is nearby or not.

More than a knowledge platform

But Robin Strohäker wanted to create more than just a platform for further training and education in the construction industry. ‘No two construction sites are the same, but someone has usually already had the problem,’ he says. It is precisely these people that he wants to connect with SuperSiteSkills. The aim is for players from different areas of the construction industry to develop a greater understanding of each other’s work.

What happens next with SuperSiteSkills

Robin Strohäker has a clear vision for the future of SuperSiteSkills: the training courses will become increasingly specific and gradually cover all relevant specialised topics. At the same time, he wants to continue to reach young people and inspire them for the construction industry. He invites anyone who wants to take part to join in and share their passion for their profession with others. If this succeeds, he is certain, ‘then we have won.’
